Starting from the second half of the nineteenth century, with the naturalistic collections, now the core of the Civic Museum of Natural History, and the collections of prototypes of winning machines of industry competitions, the Institute was one of the main collection points of the results of research in various fields of knowledge: scientific, technical, historical, artistic.
Over the years, therefore, the Institute has acquired, thanks to its dedication, donations and legacies, archival funds, works of art, scientific collections, libraries that express the complex articulation of interests and prestige recognized by the national academic world and international.
The material, unique and of great value, is available to scholars.
