Antonio Riotto è Professore ordinario di Fisica teorica all’Università di Ginevra e Direttore del Dipartimento. È stato eletto socio corrispondente non residente dell’Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti il 13 giugno 2022. La sua carriera accademica include ruoli significativi presso l’INFN di Padova e il CERN. La sua ricerca si focalizza sulla Fisica teorica, esplorando temi come cosmologia, astroparticelle e l’origine dell’universo. L’Istituto è un’Accademia

che ha per fine l’incremento, la diffusione e la tutela delle scienze, delle lettere e delle arti.

L’Istituto promuove e realizza progetti di studio e ricerca, anche in collaborazione con altri enti, istituzioni, fondazioni. 

L’Istituto Veneto deriva dal Reale Istituto Nazionale voluto da Napoleone all’inizio del XIX secolo.

L’Istituto ha due sedi, palazzo Loredan, assegnatogli dallo Stato nel 1891, e palazzo Franchetti, acquisito nel 1999 tramite Venezia Iniziative Culturali srl. 

Appelli e posizioni ufficiali pronunciati dall’Istituto 

Eletti dall’assemblea dei soci effettivi, acquisiscono formalmente la nomina con decreto del Ministero della Cultura.

L’Istituto è composto di due classi, è retto dal Consiglio di Presidenza e regolato dal Collegio dei Revisori. 

L’Istituto propone

oltre alle assemblee periodiche dei soci, numerosi tipi di iniziative rivolte al largo pubblico. A queste si aggiungono iniziative di approfondimento, di interesse più specialistico.
Bandisce inoltre premi a concorso. 

L’attività ordinaria dell’Istituto è scandita mensilmente dalle riunioni accademiche.

Tra le attività regolarmente promosse dall’Istituto è l’organizzazione di conferenze, convegni di studio, cicli di incontri divulgativi e altro ancora.

L’Istituto Veneto organizza, promuove e ospita esposizioni documentarie e mostre d’arte collettive e personali. 

L’Istituto bandisce annualmente premi destinati per lo più a giovani ricercatori. 

L’Istituto promuove seminari e scuole internazionali di approfondimento, ma anche corsi di formazione per docenti. 

Le visite, gratuite e prenotabili telefonicamente, permettono di scoprire i tesori nascosti di palazzo Loredan. 

L’Istituto è casa editrice

fin dal 1840 pubblica la rivista «Atti» e una serie di volumi, denominati «Memorie», che raccolgono contributi in forma monografica. Da diversi anni pubblica inoltre una serie di Collane, che riflettono interessi specifici. 

Oltre 300 i volumi pubblicati su temi di storia, letteratura, critica d’arte, filologia, diritto, filosofia, ma anche nelle scienze naturali e matematiche.

L’intero patrimonio delle pubblicazioni edite dal 1840 è stato di recente digitalizzato.

È possibile acquistare online le più recenti pubblicazioni dell’Istituto.

È il periodico digitale, diffuso via newsletter, pensato per far conoscere i nostri soci e offrire loro opportunità di divulgazione.

Ha lo scopo di raccogliere in edizione critica i documenti archivistici relativi a Marco Polo e ai suoi diretti discendenti.

donazioni e lasciti, fondi archivistici, opere d’arte, collezioni scientifiche, biblioteche che ne esprimono la complessa articolazione degli interessi e il prestigio riconosciuto dal mondo accademico. 

L’Istituto conserva i documenti relativi alla propria storia e fondi di personalità importanti per la storia d’Italia. 

Il patrimonio librario è costituito da oltre 100.000 volumi, pervenuti, per la maggior parte, in scambio con le principali istituzioni accademiche mondiali.

Nel corso della sua storia bicentenaria l’Istituto ha raccolto numerose opere d’arte, rappresentative dell’ampiezza dei campi d’interesse.
